GUMMIES TRAY & LID FOR EXZOL

Innovative Gummies Tray and Lid for Effortless Handling

Designed and Manufactured for EXZOL: Introducing the Gummies Tray & Lid, a meticulously crafted solution designed and manufactured exclusively for EXZOL. This innovative product revolutionizes the gummy production process, ensuring convenience, durability, and a flawless end result.

Client Brief and Initial Challenges

The challenge set by EXZOL was clear – a tray capable of holding 12 round gummies individually, with a lid that seamlessly unclips to allow easy removal and can be reattached for storage. The tray, serving as a mould, needed to withstand high temperatures during the pouring of hot liquid gummies.

Material Selection and Evolution

The initial material choice for the lid, 250um PET, proved insufficient due to its soft corners. After practical testing, a switch to a more robust 300um PET was made. For the tray base, 500um PET, though sturdy in corners, melted during gummy pouring. Experimenting with 500um and 600um PVC revealed that 600um PVC was the optimum choice, ensuring no melting on the production line. To combat gummy sticking, trays were transformed into solid white HIPS material, preserving visual appeal.

Mould Design and Refinement

Crafting the mould was a meticulous process. Initially designed in Solidworks and 3D printed, adjustments were made to perfect the clips. CNC-machined aluminium moulds were then created, yet during production, clip tightness became an issue. Collaborating with our tool maker, micro adjustments were made to achieve flawless clips across all trays and lids, ensuring precision and accuracy in every detail.

Client Approval and Continuous Improvement

Feedback from the client was instrumental in refining the product. Adjustments were made to the cavity depth, ensuring the perfect fit and functionality. The client expressed utmost satisfaction, highlighting the product’s contribution to streamlining their production line. As they perfect their processes, we eagerly anticipate supplying numerous orders in the years to come.
